PowerPoint presentation and use of text

Your PowerPoint presentation should be more about the message of your presentation than the text used - so you should be very cautious and use the text sparingly and appropriately. The best presentations of all sorts are considered best because of the message, which constitutes the essence of the PowerPoint presentation. As a presenter, use should use text in your PPT presentation as an aid. Do not use text just for the sake of using it. Always keep in mind that your MESSAGE is the presentation and the ornamental words you use.
Following are a few tips on using text in your PPT presentations:
• Use text in bullet form
Use text in bullet form to make your point more effective. Using text in bullet form can make your points clearer and lucid for audience. Make sure that there are no more than 4 bullets per slide.
• Legible Font size
Font size must be large enough to be legible. Make sure that people sitting in the last row also can read it. In general, a font size of 28 to 34 with a bold font is recommended. For titles recommended size is 44.
• Consistency with font type
Do not distract your audience with a motley array of fonts. It is simply distracting. Decide on font type and stick to it throughout your presentation.
• Avoid overuse of text which is a very common mistake
Too much text renders your slide unreadable. Use limited and effective words to convey your message. Complement your text wit relevant images and graphics to grab the attention of your audience.
